Originally created in collaboration with iconic winemaker John Duval, who crafted Australia’s most celebrated wine, Penfolds Grange, this alluring Syrah is produced by Long Shadows’ Director of Winemaking and Viticulture, Gilles Nicault.
Tasting Notes:
PDFA beautiful, expressive Syrah, deeply colored, with aromas of black olive tapenade and dark spice. Ripe, concentrated flavors of black currant and black cherry are accented by peppercorn and savory spices. Plush and opulent, the 2023 Sequel is a richly textured wine with silky tannins that stretch across a long, balanced finish.
Vineyards
The 2023 Sequel brings together four distinct vineyards to create a layered, complex Syrah. Boushey Vineyard (Yakima Valley) makes up nearly half the blend, lending brightness and a subtle spicy note. Equal parts Stone Tree Vineyard (Wahluke Slope) and Bacchus Vineyard (White Bluffs) Syrah deepen the wine with dark, intensely concentrated flavors. Sonnet Vineyard’s Shiraz clone (Horse Heaven Hills) adds extra dimension, sharpening the wine’s black currant edge.
