2022 Pirouette
- Drink -The 2022 Long Shadows Vintners Pirouette Red Wine, built around Cabernet Sauvignon and supported by 30% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot, and 2% Cabernet Franc, immediately draws you in with fragrances of black cherry compote, warm cedar, and dried thyme. Its barrel fermentation adds depth, allowing velvety tannins to frame flavors of blackberry reduction and espresso bean, while subtle notes of baking cocoa drift in the background. As the wine unfolds, a savory accent of cured herb threads through the mid palate, giving the blend a grounded sense of place. The structure feels confident yet composed, with the fruit's richness balancing against the wine’s firm architecture. Layers of dark plum and graphite continue to build, creating a long arc of flavor that lasts well after each sip. Enjoy it with slow-braised short ribs served over truffle-infused polenta and a drizzle of reduced pan jus. Highly recommended.
Gilles Nicault has created a beautiful testament to its origins in the 2022 Pirouette, a Cabernet Sauvignon-driven blend with 30% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot, and 2% Cabernet Franc. Barrel fermentation provides a backbone of supple tannin and age-worthy structure, with lovely cassis, oak spice, and tobacco vying for attention. Full-bodied, it’s built to age another 20+ years.
Broad and structured, this offers aromas of ripe blackberries, crushed walnuts and exotic spices, together with leaves and a hint of overturned earth. Compact and powerful on the palate, with big but integrated tannins, giving a seamless mouthfeel. Dark chocolate notes in the long, textured finish.
The 2022 Pirouette is a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc, matured for 22 months in 80% new French oak. It has slowly opening scents of cassis, chocolate, garrigue, cast iron and well-integrated oak spice. The full-bodied palate is supple and perfumed, and its high alcohol is well integrated. It’s balanced by bright acidity and has a long, spicy finish.
Dark and intense, the 2022 Pirouette smolders from the glass, mixing black olive tones with ashen stone and mentholated blackberries. It displays silken textures and admirable weight as a core of brisk acidity guides its ripe red and black fruits across the palate. The 2022 leaves a saturation of edgy tannins that pinch at the cheeks as hints of licorice and mocha fade.
