Created in collaboration with iconic winemaker John Duval, who crafted Australia’s most celebrated wine, Penfolds Grange, this alluring Syrah is produced by Long Shadows’ Director of Winemaking, Gilles Nicault.
Tasting Notes:
PDFLuxuriously rich and supple in texture, the 2021 Sequel Syrah offers stylish notes of black olive tapenade, hints of bacon fat, and a captivating floral essence of fresh violets that set the stage for this deeply layered wine. On the palate, ripe plums, black cherry, and a hint of sweet spice weave a tapestry of complex flavors that stretch across the finish and leave a lasting impression.
Vineyards
Three distinct Columbia Valley growing regions, each representing almost a third of the blend, are selected to create a complex, multi-layered wine. Yakima Valley’s Boushey Vineyard gives Sequel its bright, vibrant character. A collection of top Red Mountain vineyards lends ripe character and structure. Bacchus Vineyard Block 5 Syrah, planted in 1993, adds intense color and black fruit, with a small amount of Shiraz clone from Sonnet Vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills adding black currant aromas and flavors.
