$70.00 / Bottle Purchase

Allen Shoup named this wine in honor of his mother, Elizabeth Chester, and his grandmother, Maggie Kidder. He selected Long Shadows' director of winemaking, Gilles Nicault, to craft this New World blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and other classic Bordeaux varieties.

Dark and inky in color, the 2020 Chester-Kidder is brimming with layered aromas and flavors of concentrated black cherry, ripe plum, baking spice, hints of fresh herbs and an appealing earthiness. Complex and richly textured on the palate, with firm, silky tannins that linger across a flavorful and vibrant finish.

93 Points

Very perfumed with aromas ranging from lavender, graphite and sandalwood to purple plum, blueberry and black pepper. Firm and compact on the palate, with a full body and dense, chewy tannins. Toasty but not opulent.

93 Points

Chester-Kidder packages 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Syrah and 10% Petit Verdot in a most satisfying way. After aromas of boysenberry jam and lamb grilling on the spit are finished with you, rich black cherry, aged balsamic and bittersweet dark chocolate flavors take over. The wine's texture is as silky smooth as its tannins. The wine spent 30 months in tight-grained French oak barrels, 80% new.

Lots of pure cassis, classy oak, caramelized cherry, and violet notes all emerge...a medium to full-bodied red that's based on 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Syrah, and 10% Petit Verdot aged 30 months in 80% new oak. It's balanced, has terrific purity, firm tannins, and a great finish.
