Long Shadows’ 2022 Feather Cabernet Sauvignon Earns USA Wine of the Year

Three Long Shadows Wines Win Sommelier Choice Awards

The Sommeliers Choice Awards does not evaluate wine the way most competitions do. Its judges are working hospitality professionals, master sommeliers and restaurant wine directors who think about wine through the lens of the dining room: does it belong on a list, does it work with food, does it deliver on its promise? That's why we're so honored that Long Shadows wines showed so well.

The 2022 Feather Cabernet Sauvignon was named USA Wine of the Year and Cabernet Sauvignon Wine of the Year, earning 96 points from a panel that blind-tasted entries from across the country and around the world. Feather is a benchmark Washington Cabernet Sauvignon, a wine that puts the Columbia Valley in the same conversation as the best wine regions in the world. The 2022 vintage delivers depth and structure alongside genuine balance. Founding winemaker Gilles Nicault describes it as "power and precision" meeting "remarkable balance." The judges agreed.

In addition to the 2022 Feather earning top honors, two other Long Shadows wines earned their own Sommelier Choice Awards.

The 2024 Poet's Leap Riesling earned 94 points from the critics. Built on the tension between fruit and acidity that the Columbia Valley delivers so naturally, it is precise, alive, and made to sit alongside food. This isn't the first time Poet's Leap showed well in this competition. In 2024, the 2022 Poet's Leap was named USA Wine of the Year and White Wine of the Year.

The 2022 Pedestal Merlot was also a favorite of the panel, earning 93 points. A Merlot-based blend with Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, Pedestal is structured and elegant, showing deep, dark black fruit and spice.

Three wines. Three awards. A relentless commitment to making wines that belong on the world's best tables, including yours!
