Julia's Dazzle Rosé

Lively, aromatic, and elegant are three words we keep top of mind when it comes to creating Julia's Dazzle Rosé. Not only is this Washington Rosé dazzling with flavor and personality, it’s loved by many and appropriate for just about every occasion. The name Julia comes from Long Shadows Vintners founder Allen Shoup's granddaughter, who is also the daughter of president, Dane Narbaitz. Crafted by head of winemaking and viticulture, Gilles Nicault, it’s a family wine that truly represents Julia wholeheartedly from the name to the very last sip.

In 2014, Allen, Dane and Gilles decided to set aside a block of Pinot Gris grapes located on The Benches Vineyard in the Columbia Valley to create a special wine reminiscent of the style Gilles grew up with in Provence, France. From vintage to vintage, Gilles strives to accomplish an eye-catching, orange-strawberry color and a long, dry finish on the palate. It was named Washington Rosé of the Year in 2018.

The recently released 2019 vintage was best described by Washington Wine Blog in their article, “2020 Pacific Northwest Rosé Report”. “This wine has rose petals, strawberry, and guava purée on the nose. The palate has Gala apple, red raspberry, guava, and fresh-picked strawberries with a light cream finish alongside a lovely minerality.”

Whether you like to drink it alone or with food, Rosé is an extremely versatile wine. Try it with roasted salmon or a summer salad of arugula, beets and herbed ricotta. You also might be surprised to know it’s a great accompaniment to your Thanksgiving turkey! Nina, our wine club manager, loves pairing her Julia’s Dazzle Rosé with barbeque ribs. It might sound uncommon at first but the smokey, savory flavors of juicy ribs complement the bright acidity of the Rosé — together, they make a balanced duo. We’d love to see what creative dishes you come up with to pair with Julia’s Dazzle. Be sure to share them with us on social media.

Summer is here and the 92-point rated 2019 Julia’s Dazzle Rosé is a great go-to summer sipper, available by visiting our website. We hope you enjoy this Long Shadows Vintners classic as much as we enjoy sharing it with you. Cheers to a dazzling summer!
