Méritant is Long Shadows’ definitive expression of Cabernet Sauvignon. Sourced from select Red Mountain vineyards, it is a wine built on patience: meticulous handling from vineyard to cellar, extended barrel aging, and an additional year of bottle aging before release. This is Washington Cabernet at its most exacting.

Opulent aromas of graphite, cassis, cocoa bean, dried rosemary, and subtle earth unfold alongside notes of black cherry, licorice, and warm oak spice. The palate is viscous and richly layered, with a lavish core of dark fruit framed by silky tannins that carry through a long, sumptuous finish.

The 2022 MÉRITANT Cabernet Sauvignon is a barrel selection wine hailing from Red Mountain. It was stored in all new French oak, as the oak integration is spectacular. There are loads of tension and bright acidity from this slightly cooler vintage — yet this beauty builds in weight and flavor density with more and more air. Creme de violette and tar flavors combine with sagebrush, black currant cordial and blackberry pie with milk chocolate dusted Arabica bean on the palate. Flirting with perfection, enjoy this total heavy hitter now and over the next fifteen to twenty years to come.
