Allen Shoup named this wine in honor of his mother, Elizabeth Chester, and his grandmother, Maggie Kidder. He selected Long Shadows' director of winemaking, Gilles Nicault, to craft this New World blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and other classic Bordeaux varieties.

PDFThe 2022 Chester-Kidder opens with aromas of crushed herbs, blackberry purée, and graphite, giving way to layers of black currant, dark cherry, and Black Forest chocolate cake. Integrated oak and fine tannins frame a vibrant mid-palate, leading to a long, expressive finish. This is a wine of richness and depth, defined by its remarkable balance.
Vineyards
Walla Walla Valley Cabernet lends the 2022 Chester-Kidder dark, rich character while Candy Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah contribute depth, backbone, and a supple mouthfeel. Petit Verdot from StoneTree Vineyard adds lift and dimension, adding complexity to the final blend.
